SUBMIT A STORYProviding comfort, hope, and confidence to children in urgent need
Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.
Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. We're grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well. Carter Myers Automotive is committed to giving back to the wonderful communities that have been a part of our company for the past 90 years. Colonial Subaru is a new member of the CMA family and we look forward to working with the community and non-profits for many years to come!

There is nothing better than giving back to the ones that give so much everyday. That is why CMA's Colonial Subaru decided to have a cookout for teachers and staff at Marguerite Christian Elementary School. We cooked hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, made sure we had all the fixings, chips, cookies, and smiles. They enjoyed being pampered on their lunch breaks. The thank you's were abound. it doesn't take much to give your time to let others know you see how they are making a difference.

When you visit The Children's Hospital of Richmond you can see how much everyone cares about the work being done. The hope in the parent's eyes, the joy of helping on the nurse's faces, and the innocence of the children going through the treatments. CMA's Colonial Subaru put together goody bags for everyone that is spending time in this powerful place. They wanted to let the know that they are supported and not forgotten. The children's bags were split into different ages. Some having legos, games, and journals. Others having coloring books, stickers, and fidget toys. The parent's bags had things like gum, hand sanitizer, and note books. The nurse's bags had things note pads, colored pens, and water bottles. One thing that was in every bag was a personalized note from the employees of the dealership to let them know we are thinking of them and they are appreciated and strong. When the bags were delivered the surprise on everyone's faces was priceless.

Each year CMA's Colonial Subaru collects can goods for the local foodbank. It is important to CMA's Colonial Subaru to support Feedmore locally as well as the support they give on a national level during Share the Love. During the months of May and June CMA's Colonial Subaru collected can goods and other nonperishables to take to the Colonial Heights Food Pantry. There was enough food collected from employees and customers to cover 600 meals for families in the community. It came at a time where the food bank was short and needed help restocking their shelves.

CMA's Colonial Subaru paid a visit to the local YMCA last week. We have been experiencing a heat wave in our area. That puts a damper on the YMCA's Camp activities that they have planned. Knowing the children are stuck inside and unable to enjoy their camp experience to the fullest, CMA's Colonial Subaru planned a surprise! We picked up a bunch of ice cream sandwiches and a cooler, we had to act fast. We got there right as the first set of children were finishing their lunch. The children were so excited to see visitors and even more excited to see we brought them treats. Each child was able to pick which flavor they wanted, strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla. The smiles and thank you's were so awesome! We had just as much fun as the children. We even got to tour the facility and the new construction area to see all of the upgrades they will have when it is complete. It was a great day!

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Chester, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why CMA's Colonial Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like CMA's Colonial Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 02/12/2025, CMA's Colonial Subaru donated 120 shoes/socks to James House. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Being chosen as CMA's Colonial Subaru's Hometown Charity for 2024 Share the Love Program was a great opportunity for Giving Words. Vehicles and repairs can be very expensive and inhibit single mothers from being able to travel to and from appointments and work. This can affect their livelihood and make it difficult to provide for their children. Giving Words is a non-profit that supports single mothers in these types of situations. By choosing Giving Words as the Hometown Charity we were able to provide them with funds to help many families throughout our area. There are mothers that were able to receive vehicles that are able to provide stability for them and their children. They were also able to purchase parts and pay for services to maintain and repair vehicles that needed to be done so that these mothers can comfortably transport their children. We will continue to support Giving Words and our community.

The James House in Petersburg, Va is a blessing to families in the Tri-Cities. They are able to offer a place to stay, food, clothing, and other essentials to mothers and children that need to get out of a unsafe environment. These mothers and children may leave with only the clothes on their backs. The James House survives on donations made by the community. During the month of February CMA's Colonial Subaru teamed up with Operation Warm to supply socks and shoes to children being helped by the James House. While at the drop off location we were able to see first hand what an impact the communities donations make on these families. The efforts that the volunteers put in to make the families feel comfortable and safe is touching. We are so thankful to Subaru and Operation Warm for helping CMA's Colonial Subaru bring smiles to the faces of our community and warm toes to the children that otherwise may not be able to have a new pair of shoes.

Each year as part of the Subaru Loves Pets Event in October we host a Pet Adoption onsite at CMA's Colonial Subaru. We've had over 60 cats and dogs adopted at the dealership and have helped hundreds more find homes throughout the events. Prince George County Animal Shelter is our local animal shelter that we partner with each year. This year we also took in donations for the shelter. All sorts of new toys, beds, food, and more were donated for the shelter animals to enjoy while waiting for their new homes. The out pour from the community is truly inspiring. Not everyone is able to have a pet but they can still give a small donation to help the local shelter. Thank you to our customers, community, and Prince George County Animal Shelter for your partnership in finding loving homes for pets that need families. Here are a few pics of animals that found new homes during the onsite adoption event. Each new parent gets a New Parent Kit filled with Subaru goodies and necessities to care for their new cat or dog.

As part of the on going commitment to give back to the environment through Subaru Loves the Earth initiative we planted a meadow next door to CMA's Colonial Subaru. The meadow is filled with ingenious plants that provide a beautiful view where in the past has just been an empty field. Having the meadow there for the community to enjoy has led to people and animals coming by to take pictures and explore. The meadow also gives the pollinators like the bees and butterflies flowers to help pollinate the area. It was plenty of work tilling, silting, raking, and seeding to get the area ready for the meadow. It has been so rewarding seeing how much joy it has brought the community. We even held a bee education class where a local Bee Keeper showed us how important it is to have areas like this for our pollinators.

At CMA's Colonial Subaru we have committed to filling the shelves at our local food bank, Colonial Heights Food Pantry. They provide nonperishable goods, fresh, and prepared food for our local community. We decided to take to take canned donations of peas, corn, and green beans. This allows our customers to bring in their donations year around, when they come in for service or just stop by and drop them off. We started by purchasing $200 worth of cans to fill the shelf and continue to chip in when donations are low. This is a year long commitment that will supply many of our community with the food they need. It is partnerships like this that set Subaru above the rest. We are not just a car company, we are so much more.

As a CMA's Colonial Subaru team member I have been delivering meals to our community for 7 years. Subaru has a national partnership with Feedmore that CMA's Colonial Subaru supports through Meals on Wheels by delivering meals every Friday. I have gotten to know many clients who I get to visit each week. For many, this is the only interaction they may have with the outside world. There is more to the visit than just handing off the meal and heading on my way. I make sure they are doing ok, if they need help with anything I am there to assist them. A lot of the clients are not as mobile as they once were. One client in particular, I have developed a close relationship with. We look forward to our weekly visits where I might help her by pulling weeds or decorating her house for the holidays. She gets to love on my dog, Molly and tells me stories about her life, at 97 yrs young, there are plenty! She has 5 children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that come to visit her. I have gotten to meet many of them and they all know the special bond we have. She tells me what a difference having the meals that are specially prepared for the clients has made and contributes her good health with the nutrition she receives in the meals. I have been able to deliver over 4,000 meals to these special people in our community and would not give up the time I have spent with them for anything! It is a wonderful program and I am thankful Subaru has allowed me to be a pert of it.

Subaru Share the Love Chesterfield maximized Giving Words' impact on single parent families in Central Virginia. With their generous donation included, we were able to give away 5 cars, repair 43 cars, and provide other assistance. We cannot measure how many problems were averted and activities were enjoyed, but we can say that about 84 moms and 168 children had reliable transportation or other needs met and a supportive team only a phone call away. Check out the Mom Story below for one example of a family that Subaru and Giving Words changed. I am a single mother to a beautiful son with special needs. Raising him has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done or ever will do. However, it does have its stressful moments - finances being the biggest stressor. Although I work two jobs,... it is sometimes not enough, especially when it comes to emergency vehicle repairs. Giving Words has come to my rescue (literally!) twice now with emergency repairs to my car. My vehicle can be my lifeline - If I am stuck without it, that means my son will not have access to the care and appointments that he requires. Because of Giving Words' generosity, I did not have to worry about my son not having access to his specific needs. I am so thankful for this ministry and cannot express enough gratitude. Thank you, Giving Words - For keeping me and my son on the road, as well as for being such kind, Godly and understanding people.

On Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, CMA’s Colonial Subaru in South Chesterfield had the opportunity to deliver 80 blankets to the Virginia Cancer Institute – Puddledock location in Prince George as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program. The blankets were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by customers in the community and staff of CMA’s Colonial Subaru. These gifts were warmly received by the staff and patients, with staff showing their excitement as they know how much these gifts of love and support are appreciated. It was a wonderful day and heartfelt thanks to CMA’s Colonial Subaru in South Chesterfield for joining the LLS mission to create a world without blood cancer.

Dear Subaru, I want you to know about a new recycling program that started with your help and it just might save our planet! My name is Shelli Dumais, the creator of Trash Right. As a military spouse and mother of two, I have moved our family more than a dozen times around the country and world. The challenges of moving are many and recycling is surprisingly, right up there on the list of struggles. From the west coast to the east coast and everywhere in between, everything about recycling is different. Every time we move, I have to actively figure out how and where to properly dispose of the same items. Often times, there is no proper way to dispose of them and they end up in the landfill or worse, littering our planet. That’s why I created Trash Right. Trash Right ends the confusion of recycling for residents of Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia by actively reaching out to residents and educating them on what they can and cannot put in their curbside recycling bins. Most people don’t know that if they put the wrong thing in the bin, they will unintentionally contaminate an entire truckload of recyclable material which will have to be landfilled. But not everything that contaminates a bin is trash. Some items are still recyclable. So, in addition to educating, Trash Right also picks up items from residents’ homes that can be recycled outside of their single-stream recycling bins. Things like plastic grocery bags, Ziploc bags, bubble wrap, bread bags, case overwrap, alkaline batteries, lithium batteries, electronics, scrap metal, Styrofoam, clothes, six-pack plastic rings and coffee pods like Keurig and Nespresso. When we collect these items, we take them to places for proper recycling. Not only do we keep these items from entering landfills, we also prevent them from going into recycling bins where they would contaminate other good recyclable material. All of which, would be landfilled. To encourage people to participate, we also raffle off a $100 cash prize every time we pick up items. So far, we have given away $1,300 and collected more than 29,000 items weighing just under 1,000 pounds!! It’s a lot of hard work, but rewarding. One winner cried when I knocked on her door with her prize. She had two young children and she was so happy to show that what they do, can and does make a difference. I cried too. ;) Subaru, I cannot thank you enough for helping Trash Right to exist. One of the items we collect that is so hard to recycle is coffee pods. When I started this journey and researched how and where I could recycle items, I found that Subaru supports TerraCycle’s mission to “end the idea of waste.” I reached out to our local Subaru dealership, CMA’s Colonial Subaru in Chesterfield, Virginia and asked if they would sponsor a TerraCycle box for K-Cups. Valerie Gerbasio in the sales department was amazing to work with. She jumped at the chance to help and has been such a strong supporter of our efforts, giving me new TerraCycle coffee pod boxes whenever mine fill up. So far, we have collected 2,269 coffee pods, all recycled due to the generosity of Subaru. Trash Right is making a difference and a dent in the amount of material going to landfills. We couldn’t do this without your help and we are so thankful that you care as much about the planet as we do. Go Subaru!! Please check out our Facebook page to see pictures of winners and all of the items we’ve collected. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092347685101

I have a 7yr old son that loves to read. We take trips to the local library weekly to find him several books to read back to back. His new joy is to look up Little Free Library's on the website and see if there is a hidden treasure he can trade one of his books for. Last week we were on a trip down i95 and stopped to refuel at a Pilot in Colonial Heights, VA. To our surprise, there was a Little Library next door at CMA's Colonial Subaru! My son and I were both able to find a book that we had not read before. Little Free Library is something you normally see in neighborhoods. It is great that this Subaru retailer had this library installed for their customers and the local community. This should be something more businesses do to give back.

It was such a pleasure being a part of the blanket delivery to the Virginia Cancer Institute! I loved getting a glimpse of the messages of hope written by the CMA's Colonial Subaru staff and customers. We all made an impact to local cancer patients in need.

Back in February Colonial Subaru reached out and explained that all of their Chester dealerships wanted to give back to Marguerite Christian Elementary and asked if we had a project they could fundraise for. The principal, Rovez Ingram mentioned that they were in need of rugs for their K-2 classrooms. The Colonial Subaru representative thought this would be a great idea! A month later she reached out and said they were able to get the rugs and she wanted to bring them to our school! We were so excited and grateful that our school was chosen to receive such a significant donation! Thank you to CMA's Richmond Dealerships which consists of CMA's Colonial Subaru for your generosity to our school!

At the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, our mission is to help make life better for children with cancer - and we are able to do that thanks to the love shared by CMA's Colonial Subaru! Throughout 2022, they pledged to donate $25 from every new car sold and donated over $13,000 to help provide Assistance, Support and Kindness to our communities youngest cancer patients. Thanks to this generous support, we can be there for our children and families so they don't have to face their cancer journey alone. Thank you Subaru for sharing the love to our community!
Rovez I.
As the school year is wrapping up and we have made it to the 4th quarter we do not expect to get a phone call asking us, what can we do to help you? That's exactly what happened one morning at Marguerite Christian Elementary School. CMA's Colonial Subaru was looking for a way that they could support local education in their community. At this point we really needed new rugs in our K-2nd grade classrooms. This is a big ask and I didn't think that would be attainable. There are 15 classrooms that each needed a 8x10 kid friendly rug. To my surprise they were able to fulfill our needs! The children and teachers were so excited! All 15 classrooms have brand new rugs that brighten the classrooms and bring new life into the rooms. Thank you so much to CMA's Colonial Subaru!

American Red Cross and CMA's Colonial Subaru have been cohosting blood drives at the dealership once a month for several years. There is a wonderful private space that they lend to bring donors in so they are comfortable during the process. Several employees have taken the time to donate over the years. CMA's Colonial Subaru has now been awarded with a Certificate of Recognition for their commitment and dedication to the American Red Cross Premier Blood Partner Program. Their support is critical to our lifesaving mission. Together we collected 368 units in 2022! We are very thankful for their hospitality and look forward for many more years of partnership.

Yvette and Justin at CMA's Colonial Subaru were fantastic. I knew what I was interested in before arriving and Justin took the time to show me the Crosstrek and Forester. From there I knew I wanted the Crosstrek! They also allowed my dog to test drive with me and be there to finish out the deal. They even sent me a care package for my dog, Sven, to enjoy! Thank you guys!

We have been busy granting wishes to local children throughout Virginia! Earlier this month, we had the honor of granting Javi’s wish to be a firefighter. Javi’s wish was one of the most heartfelt wishes and was completely life-changing for Javi, his family and their entire community. Javi, a 7-year old boy in Virginia, wished to be firefighter and tragically in addition to battling cancer his home burned down earlier this year. On October 9th,Javi was sworn in as a Firefighter with the Hanover County Fire-EMT Department. He spent the day putting out fires, flying in a helicopter and even rescued a cat. The Firefighters that helped Javi and his family during their house fire, also helped grant his wish, and now Javi wants to be just like them when he grows up! What an incredibly impactful and life-changing wish - a truly special day for Javi, Hanover Firefighters, and the entire community! We could not grant life-changing wishes like Javi’s without support from CMA's Colonial Subaru and we are so very appreciative of you and your team!

Through our partnership with CMA’s Colonial Subaru, we hosted an adoption event on October 28th. We brought seven pets to the dealership, and by the end of the event, Prince George Animal Services and CMA’s Colonial Subaru helped two find their perfect, loving home. Thanks to Valerie from CMA’s Colonial Subaru, we were able to showcase our adoptable animals to a broader audience which in turn brought more people to the shelter to adopt. On the day of our adoption event we brought an adorable 3 year old hound mix named Trix. Trix came to Prince George Animal Services as a stray in the middle of September. She was timid and missing some of the hair on her back from fleas. After some TLC from staff she showed her true colors and soon became a staff favorite. Trix stole the hearts of many people at the event, but one customer in particular was smitten. After spending some time with Trix, she sent her husband to meet her. She was convinced that he, too, would absolutely love her. Trix seemed to connect with the husband almost instantly. She would stay by his side and ask to be pet every chance she got. The couple spent the weekend getting their home ready for another addition and then came to adopt Trix as soon as we opened that following Monday! We could feel the instant connection that Trix and her adopters have and we wish them a long and happy life together.

Thank you to CMA's Colonial Subaru for your support of the Make-A-Wish mission! Together, we are able to grant life-changing wishes like Mary’s, throughout Virginia! Mary, a 10 year old from Palmyra, Virginia is currently battling a critical illness, loves to play outdoors. While the past year has brought challenges and isolation, Mary’s wish to have a backyard playground, delivered so much love and happiness to Mary and her family - during a time when needed most! “Mary is enjoying the playground and we definitely are grateful for it for her”, Julia, Mary’s mom said. These pictures easily capture the true love and enjoyment that Mary and her entire family are experiencing together! They are creating memories that will be cherished forever. This is your support in action. You make wishes like Mary’s come true. May you feel the love from Mary’s family and all of our wish families, today and every day! We are so grateful for you!

CMA's Colonial Subaru donated 50 care packages to CARES Shelter. We were able to supply 50 homeless community members with necessities they would not normally have access to. They were very thankful to have things that most of us take for granted. Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, wipes, chapstick, and deodorant. This is not the first time that Colonial Subaru has donated to our shelter. They continue to give back to the communities surrounding their dealership. Together we can make a difference.

We had the absolute best experience while purchasing our new Subaru Ascent. Johanna was our salesperson and she was incredible. Her efficiency, quick replies, willingness to help, and adapt to our needs were top notch. Floyd did an amazing job walking us through the features of our new vehicle, well passed closing time. We could not be happier with our new car or our time at CMA’s Colonial Subaru. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a new car!

Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia celebrated National Puppy Day last week. On National Puppy Day, we made a surprise delivery to an incredible 12-year-old girl named Chloe: her new four-legged best friend, Finn! Chloe has been undergoing cancer treatment, and has seen multiple therapy dogs at the hospital, which helped her decide her wish was to have a puppy named Finn! She was totally shocked to come out of her house this morning to see a celebration set up on her front lawn, and she screamed out of excitement when she saw him. She has an especially tough treatment ahead of her, and Finn, who is quite the snuggler, will be an amazing comfort and friend to her now and for years to come. “I don’t know what to do, I feel so happy right now!” Chloe shared. “This is the best day of my life!” We know that life-changing wishes would not be possible without amazing corporate partners like CMA’s Colonial Subaru! Together, we have the power to inspire hope, sustain strength, and bring joy to our wish children and families by making their wish a reality. Thank you - we are so grateful!

1) “Haley in the service department greeted me with a pleasant smile and great attitude. She listened closely to what I was trying to accomplish with my vehicle. She was courteous and helpful throughout the entire visit. I wish all customer service people were as kind and considerate as Haley. They also, have an excellent and knowledgeable mechanical staff. I LOVE my Subaru!!! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING a Forrester SPORT!!” 2) “Went in for a simple inspection and was told I had bad U-joint. Something I already knew but ignored for over a month. They quoted me for a replacement and I gladly accepted. They were quick in replacing both front and rear U-joints and the price was more than fair. Friendly and great staff and now my H3 drives like a champ!!!” 3) “I purchased an Outback today, and once again it has been an extremely positive and pleasant experience all around. The dealership is accommodating and helpful, and want to ensure that as a customer that you are happy with your purchase. This has been the case over the years as I have purchased other vehicles here as well as taken family members to do the same. I trust this dealership to treat me well and to be honest about everything. This is a big deal to me and they certainly step up to the plate! Almost a year has gone by and still loving my Outback. The employees at this dealership are awesome! They are just a genuinely nice group of people. They are helpful and responsive. Again, just a very nice group of people.”

This correspondence is to inform you of the exemplary service we received from CMA’s Colonial Subaru 3.5 years ago, and the same outstanding treatment continued with our new lease last week of the 2021 Outback XT Touring. It commenced with the home delivery of the contract by Kirk Able, the delivery of the new 2021 by Floyd Hayes and the professionalism exhibited by your General Manager, Tim Cosgrove. We do not want to be verbose in this communication but these gentlemen are a true asset to the dealership. They ameliorate the buying process to the zenith. We would certainly without reservation recommend CMA’s Colonial Subaru to our contemporaries. We look forward with anticipation to meeting your staff and especially Karma!! Respectfully submitted, Daniel Cameron Geneviève Dickerson

Overview: We recently granted 16-year-old Eliza’s wish to have a gaming computer. Eliza, who has cystic fibrosis, has developed a huge passion for gaming in the past year as a way to safely connect with her friends, and she is so excited to have a setup that will make her gaming experience even better! We reached out to our friends at CMA's Colonial Subaru to see if they could help make Eliza’s wish extra special, and they jumped right in! We worked with their team to organize a car parade, and they went the extra mile. Each car was intricately decorated in a theme based on Eliza’s favorite things, and each car dropped off a small gift attached to a balloon, just for Eliza. It was an amazing day that Eliza, her family and everyone present won’t soon forget! Please find some of the news links below to enjoy and share. The first video link captures Eliza and her mom expressing how meaningful the day was. Their emotions truly reinforce the impact of a wish! News Story: A 15-year-old Chester girl was treated to a car parade and surprise gifts thanks to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia. Eliza, who is battling cystic fibrosis, is an avid gamer and uses it as a safe outlet to connect with others and have fun during the pandemic. For her wish, the teen wished for a new gaming computer. "You know it’s really hard because all the hospital visits and all the things I’ve gone through. But being here today is just really helpful," said Eliza. Eliza's wish was granted thanks to support from CMA’s Colonial Subaru through their annual Subaru Share the Love Event. While wishes may look a little different due to the pandemic, Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia is still working to safely create life-changing wishes for children battling critical illnesses. For Eliza, that meant a car parade in front of her Chester home. CMA’s Colonial Subaru led the parade, with each car dropping off a small surprise gift for Eliza. "Shocked, overwhelmed, just really happy that this could happen," Eliza added. "It’s amazing that you guys took all the time to do that with the parade and create all this beautiful art work and learn about her interests and likes, just overwhelmed with the generosity... it’s just a beautiful gift and we’re so thankful," said Eliza's mother, Joanna McVicker, through tears. https://www.wric.com/community/positively-richmond/wish-granted-for-chester-teen-battling-cystic-fibrosis/ Chester teen gets parade, gaming computer thanks to Make-A-Wish (wtvr.com)

Recently my husband and I purchased our second Subaru Forester. We had first visited the Pence dealership on Midlothian due to its proximity to our home. We quickly realized no one knows the Forester like Floyd Hayes, who sold us our first Forester in 2013. Though we realized he was no longer in sales, we contacted him at CMA regarding info on the 2020 Forester. He, as always, was enthusiastic and so helpful in guiding us through the process of evaluating the 2020. Needless to say, we purchased our second Subaru with his guidance through the process. Not only did he give thorough instructions on our car the day it arrived but continued to be responsive to our subsequent calls with questions related to technology of our vehicle. Three months following our purchase, we returned for a follow-up tutorial with Floyd who remained patient and informative with these two “old folks.” Now, four months after our purchase, I will accompany my sister and brother-in-law to your dealership to meet with Floyd as they are perspective new customers having bought their first Forester in Roanoke. My husband and I appreciate the professional way in which we were treated at your dealership by all who were involved in our purchase. I strongly recommend CMA’s Colonial Subaru.

CMA's Colonial Subaru normally has an adoption event in their store during the month of October for the Subaru Loves Pets Event. They were unable to have the onsite event this year due to the current pandemic. However, they did host a virtual event along with Prince George County Animal Shelter the entire month of October. They were able to find 46 pets forever homes and a grant from Subaru and SPCA covered all of the adoption fees. It was a fantastic way to bring pets and people together in a safe way within our community.

Elisa is a 15 yr old that has been living with cystic fibrosis all her life. Make a Wish was able to grant Eliza's wish to have a gaming computer, chair, and desk delivered to her home in Chester, VA. CMA's Colonial Subaru was able to make this wish extra special for Eliza. A parade of 10 new Subaru's decorated in Eliza's favorite things went by to see her and her family on her special day. A personalized gift was given to Eliza out of every vehicle. It was a fantastic way for the community to come together for a wonderful family.

My mother is retired and lives by herself. She has trouble cooking for herself and getting around the house without her walker. She is on a meal plan through the Colonial Heights Meals on Wheels program. Through this program her meals are delivered by a volunteer on a daily basis. One of the companies that delivers meals to her is the Subaru dealership in Chester, VA. We know that it is hard to find time during the work day to volunteer. You see big companies give back during the holidays but this dealership gives back all year around. This dealership sends out volunteers twice a month to deliver to a route within their community. My mom loves how nice these volunteers are. They always wait patiently, as it takes her several mins to get to the door. They offer to put her meal in the refrigerator to make it easier for her and take the time to see how she is doing. She has built a relationship with these volunteers in a way that has been very good for her. She might go several days and this is the only interaction she has with the outside world. They do not have to go the extra mile but we appreciate that they do. Our family cannot be happier with the dedication that Colonial Subaru has made to this program and their commitment to the community. Sincerely, Mary B

On Friday, July 12, 2019, the Virginia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and CMA’s Colonial Subaru had the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets and 10 arts & craft kits to Southside Regional Medical Center as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by 80 personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff of CMA’s Colonial Subaru. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the Southside Regional Medical Center staff who were thrilled to distribute these comforting gifts to their patients. LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the Tri-Cities community. Many thanks to everyone at CMA’s Colonial Subaru and Southside Regional Medical Center, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Thank you to Colonial Subaru for supporting Feed More again this year through the Subaru Share the Love Event! Feed More is Central Virginia's core hunger relief organization and the this year's gift of more than $15,625 will help to provide nearly 62,000 meals to hungry neighbors in Central Virginia. That makes a grand total of more than 140,000 meals that Subaru has helped Feed More to provide over the past 3 years. Volunteers from Colonial Subaru also deliver meals to homebound seniors every month through Feed More's Meals on Wheels program. This important program provides a healthy meal, a friendly smile, and a safety check to approximately 1,000 seniors each weekday. We are very thankful to the team at Colonial Subaru for their support, and we are proud to call them an ally in our fight against hunger here in Central Virginia.

When the holidays come around each year you think to yourself. How do I give back, what can I do to make a difference? There is an influx of volunteers around this time of year. At Colonial Subaru, they make giving back to the community priority all year. The local Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Foodbank is always in need of drivers to volunteer their time to deliver meals for Feedmore. Colonial Subaru takes the time to participate in this rewarding opportunity bi-monthly. Volunteering within the local community is an important part of the culture of their company, Carter Myers Automotive. Feedmore, with the help of Colonial Subaru, makes a big difference in the lives of so many local residents. Unfortunately, there are many people in the area that do not have the means to make themselves nutritious meals. They also do not have much interaction with others, as they do not drive or are immobile. The look on their faces when these meals are delivered by a warm smile is immeasurable. It almost means as much to the volunteers from Colonial Subaru to be making such an impact as it does to the recipients. The intentions of these volunteers are pure, to help these residents with their next meal. They know that they will not be purchasing or servicing a vehicle at their dealership. The fact that they do this on a consistent basis without monetary benefit says a lot about the company. Colonial Subaru has also named Feedmore as their local charity every year since they have been open for the Share The Love program through Subaru during the holidays. Each year donating more than the year before. I'm sure this year will be no exception. We, as a community, are lucky the have Colonial Subaru here in our neighborhood.

For the second year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was extremely grateful for Colonial Subaru’s participation in the Loves To Care program. The national initiative, started in 2016, pairs local Subaru retailers with hospitals in their community. This year, Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Petersburg, VA was the recipient of 80 blankets as well as Messages of Hope written by Subaru customers during the month of June. Penny Nunnally, Oncology Nurse Navigator at SRMC was very appreciative when accepting the delivery on the hospital’s behalf. Valerie Gerbasio of Colonial Subaru spearheaded the effort on the retailer’s end, making sure to collect a total of 80 Care Cards - one for each blanket to be delivered. The local Progress Index Newspaper covered the delivery on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, and published a front-page article the following day.

Marguerite Christian Elementary School (MCES) is a Title I school in Chesterfield County. Through Subaru Loves Learning, MCES received cases of exciting Science books that the students in grades 2-5 are enjoying in their classrooms. These books are inspiring a love of learning, and an excitement over new science activities. Our local Subaru (CMA family dealership) has also generously donated their time, and money to the the MCES community. From our "Read Across America" Day (Subaru provided volunteers to read to students) to making water bottles available for our Family Engagement Activities, our local Subaru dealer is very much a part of the MCES family. We are very thankful for Subaru and their genuine dedication to serving their community.

River City Bulldog Rescue would like to thank Colonial Subaru for helping us raise money to help English bulldogs throughout Virginia find forever homes. The staff at Colonial Subaru gave us a warm welcome, and it seemed that every staff member who was at the dealership during the event stopped by to support us. Ed Nicol, Kelly Walker, and Shawn Hicks were very accommodating, even offering food to the folks who stopped by to support us. Colonial Subaru even surprised us by saying that they would match our donations for the day, which is a big help and much appreciated. Thank you to everyone at Colonial Subaru for extending a helping hand to local community organizations!

On Saturday February 25th, the Prince George County Adoption Center partnered with Colonial Subaru to host a pet adoption event at the Colonial Subaru dealership. The adoption event featured nine homeless animals looking to find “furever” homes. Colonial Subaru graciously offered to sponsor the adoption fees for every pet adopted that day. When we arrived at the dealership, we were excited to see so many people already waiting inside for a chance to meet and adopt the pets we brought with us. The event was a huge success with all six dogs and three cats finding new homes. Several of the pets we brought had been waiting at the adoption center for months, constantly getting overlooked by potential adopters. It was exciting to see these amazing pets find homes due to the generosity of Colonial Subaru. In fact, one family that arrived late to the event and missed the chance to adopt a pet they had seen online was offered a sponsored adoption at the Adoption Center by Subaru. This was another example of Subaru’s commitment to the well-being of the pets and the people in their community.
Did CMA's Colonial Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
