The 2020 Subaru Outback makes its debut this fall with tons of trappings for those who value luxury and convenience as much as they value adventure. Sure, the new Outback now rides on Subaru’s Global Platform along with its siblings, getting the benefit of a smoother ride, better shock absorption, greater stability, and enhanced safety on the road. But this mid-size SUV also has new features on the inside that make it one to take notice of. If you’ve never been a fan of Subaru, the 2020 Outback might change your mind.

Redesigned Interior

The interior of the 2020 Outback has been completely redesigned for superior comfort. High-quality soft touch materials, premium trim, and contrasting stitching lend an air of luxury to this otherwise rugged vehicle. Take it one notch further by adding features like genuine Nappa leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and the Subaru Outback nearly becomes a luxury car.

One of the most buzz-worthy features on the 2020 Subaru Outback is the STARLINK® Multimedia touchscreen, a tablet-sized display that graces the center of the dashboard. This beautiful 11.6-inch high-resolution screen adds excitement and convenience to the driving experience. Enhanced navigation, customized entertainment options, and controls for tasks like regulating the temperature or adjusting the stereo volume are just a touch away. It also integrates well with built-in features like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for a seamless entertainment and audio experience.

Sophisticated Technology

The 2020 Outback now comes standard with Subaru’s EyeSight® technology, a suite of driver assist technology features that are like having an extra set of eyes on the road. Based on IIHS data, Subaru’s EyeSight technology has been found to reduce rear-end collisions with injuries by up to 85%. Driver assist features include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, blind spot mitigation, and automatic pre-collision braking, to name a few.

Eyes on the Road

New for this model is Subaru’s DriverFocusTM Distraction Mitigation System. This system acts as a co-pilot, watching to make sure the driver is not drowsy or distracted behind the wheel. If the system senses this happening, it will issue a gentle reminder to keep eyes on the road. The system also recognizes up to five different drivers and will set up the driver’s preferences for seat height, outside mirror position, and inside temperature preference when it detects a new person in the driver’s seat.

Also new for the 2020 Outback is 180-degree front view monitoring. This feature provides a sweeping view of the area in front of the car, assuring the driver that he or she can move forward confidently, knowing the way is clear.

The Best Outback Thus Far

The 2020 Subaru Outback is the safest, quietest Outback ever made. It still tackles nearly any road encountered and goes places that make its competitors cringe. But now it does all this with comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury.
